Paralegal (Public Law & Human Rights, London)
We are currently recruiting for a Paralegal within our Public Law & Human Rights Department within our London office.

The Department
IM’s Public Law & Human Rights Department is a leader in its fields and offers really exciting opportunities to work in a successful team. There will be opportunities to develop and work on high profile, cutting-edge cases with some cases progressing up to the appellate courts including the Supreme Court and the European courts. Our current specialisms cover disputes in education, health and welfare, civil liberties, planning/environmental and general public law/judicial review fields and we have forged a reputation for work on test cases. Our work regularly receives considerable media attention and we have a national reach.

We hold Legal Aid Agency contracts and are instructed by privately funded individuals, businesses, professional associations and institutions including national and local charities and other voluntary organisations.

We have public law teams in Cambridge, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield.

The Role
We are looking for a Paralegal to assist on health, social care, welfare law (including mental capacity / court of protection), education and/or civil liberties and actions against the police cases within the London office.

Paralegal experience would be an advantage especially within Public Law, however this is not essential.

The attributes we are looking for:
Successful candidates will have excellent client care skills and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients’ needs. As a firm we are committed to protecting clients’ rights and the post holder should have good communication skills in order to be able to work effectively with all types of people.

Candidates will also be expected to have excellent analytical and organisational skills, be committed to teamwork, take a thorough approach to documenting their work, and have the ability to use their own initiative. This position would suit motivated individuals with intelligence, ambition, lateral thinking skills and sound judgment.

As a paralegal you will work with solicitors/FILEX on their case load.

If you thrive on being busy and can adapt well to new challenges, then we’ll give you all the training and support you’ll need to help you succeed in these highly rewarding roles. You must be IT literate and attentive to detail, with proven expertise in client care.
