An essential course for all mental health practitioners focusing on reviewing case law, the Care Act and Code of Practice and considering the practical application both in tribunal work and case progression work for patients detained under the Mental Health Act.
Attendance at this course will add towards portfolios for demonstration of “continuing competence” and also count towards the mandatory 6 hours CPD per year required for Law Society Mental Health Panel membership.
The morning session will cover the essential case law required for case preparation, with the focus on recent legal updates.
The afternoon session will look at the Care Act 2014, incorporating practical examples of applicability and the Code of Practice – what’s new and what’s improved?
The day will provide practical guidance on effective advocacy skills and application of case law, Care Act and Code of Practice considerations through a review of short case studies for group discussion.
This course will be facilitated by Tam Gill & Michael Kennedy (Manchester) / Tam Gill & Sarah Burke (London). It is an interactive course, suitable for new and experienced representatives.
