About Us

AJS Law LLP is a specialist mental health practice built on the principles of high-quality representation, collaboration, and genuine client care. Our firm has grown steadily through trusted professional relationships and shared values.

Every solicitor in the firm is accredited and experienced, and we pride ourselves on maintaining a supportive, flexible, and collaborative working environment where people can thrive.

About the Role

We are seeking Mental Health Accredited Solicitors who are:

  • Experienced in representing detained clients under the Mental Health Act
  • Confident managing their own caseload
  • Skilled in Tribunal advocacy, Hospital Managers’ hearings, CPA meetings and aftercare matters
  • Able to travel independently to hospitals (own transport or dependable public transport is essential)

Successful candidates will represent both civil and forensic patients, working closely with clinical teams, hospital services, and client families.

Employee Option

Employees will work remotely from home, with access to administrative and systems support. The role offers a high degree of freedom and autonomy, allowing you to manage your own day-to-day work while being supported by the wider firm.

We offer:

  • Salary up to £45,000, depending on experience
  • Supervisor status is desirable and will be expected to be obtained, with our support, early in employment
  • Opportunities for ongoing professional development
  • A positive, understanding, and collaborative working culture

Consultant Option

For those who prefer flexible, self-employed work, we offer:

  • 70:30 fee split
  • Freedom to manage your own caseload and diary
  • Integration into a collaborative team of specialist mental health solicitors

We particularly welcome consultants based in regions where we do not yet have a presence.

Who We’re Looking For

We hope to hear from solicitors who are:

  • Client-focused
  • Reliable and proactive
  • Supportive and collaborative
  • Compassionate, especially when working with vulnerable individuals
  • Committed to maintaining high professional standards
