Experienced Mental Health Law Solicitor or member/fellow of the Cilex – Full Time

Location: South-East London

Salary: Highly Competitive, based on experience

PQE: Minimum of 1-2 years’ PQE in Mental Health Law

Established in 2008, we are a small, fast-paced law firm based in South-East London. We are a Lexcel accredited practice with a strong legal aid franchise and a well-established reputation for stellar Family, Mental Health, Criminal, Community Care, Court of Protection, and Immigration Law work.

We are looking for a dedicated and capable Mental Health Law Solicitor or member/fellow of the CILEX to join our team.

You will assist with the management of the firm’s Mental Health Law department and will support the supervision, oversight, and training of the firm’s Mental Health team.

The role involves managing a Legal Aid caseload consisting primarily of Mental Health Tribunal proceedings, and ensuring high standards of compliance, billing, and client care.

Membership of the Law Society’s Mental Health Accreditation Scheme is required

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a qualified solicitor or member/fellow of the CILEX with a minimum of 1-2 years’ PQE in Mental Health Law
  • Have strong and demonstrable experience in Mental Health Tribunal work
  • Possess a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of Mental Health Law
  • Be confident managing a full caseload independently from instruction to conclusion
  • Have experience with supervising, mentoring and supporting junior team members
  • Have a strong understanding of Legal Aid billing, compliance, and file management requirements
  • Demonstrate excellent client care skills, including the ability to work sensitively with vulnerable clients
  • Possess strong drafting, advocacy, and organisational skills
  • Demonstrate strong IT proficiency, including the use of digital case management systems
